The CW has announced early renewals to seven of its most popular series for the 2017-2018 season. Four of them are DC shows, including "Arrow" (season 6), "The Flash" (season 4), "Supergirl" and "DC's Legends of Tomorrow". The latter two will return for their third season.

Two of The CW's comedy dramas have also been renewed. "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" will get its season 3 while "Jane the Virgin" is entering season 4. Additionally, veteran show "Supernatural" will keep going with season 13 renewal.

"Over the past several seasons, The CW has built a schedule of proven performers, from our lineup of DC superheroes, to critically acclaimed comedies, to sci-fi dramas," The CW president Mark Pedowitz said during the network's session at the 2017 Television Critics Association Press Tour in Pasadena.

He continued, "Early pickups of these seven series now allow our producers to plan ahead for next season and gives us a solid base to build for next season, with original scripted series to roll out all year long."

Shows that did not receive an early pickup include "The 100", "iZombie", "The Originals" as well as freshman series "Frequency", "No Tomorrow" and "Riverdale".

Later this year, The CW will say goodbye to two of its hits "The Vampire Diaries", which will return with its eighth and final season on Friday, January 13, and "Reign", which will premiere its series finale on Friday, February 10.
