Meg Ryan will star in EPIX's comedy series "Picture Paris", which is based on 2011 short film of the same name. The actress will play Ellen Larson, who was originally portrayed by Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Deadline has reported.

"Picture Paris" movie tells the story of suburban mom who copes with empty-nest syndrome by planning a dream trip to Paris with her husband, but things don't quite go exactly as they expected.

The adaptation will mark Ryan's first return to TV series since she had her last regular role on ABC western "Wildside" in 1985. Ryan, however, made multiple appearances on Hulu's "Web Therapy" starring Lisa Kudrow.

The series is executive produced by Ryan and Aaron Kaplan. It is written and directed by Brad Hall. EPIX has declined to comment on the status of the show, but reports said that the cable channel has put the series in fast-track development for a straight-to-series order. The series is expected to film in France.
