Wearing a nude sparkly jumpsuit, Carey lip-synched during the live show at the Times Square, but she couldn't find her place in the songs. The first track was "Aude Lang Syne" before it was followed by "Emotion" and "We Belong Together".
"Well, Happy New Year! We can't hear!" she said. "We didn't have a check for this song, so we'll just say it went to number one ... I'm going to say let the audience sing." She did a little choreography while trying to get into the performance.
"We didn't have a soundcheck for this New Year's, baby," she reasoned. "That's okay guys. Put these monitors on please!" She seemed to do better during "We Belong Together", but it didn't last long. She eventually gave up and just left the stage.
"Unfortunately there was nothing she could do to continue with the performance given the circumstances," Mariah's spokesperson Nicole Perna defended her performances which were introduced by Ryan Seacrest during the show.
