Keira Knightley will make a surprise return to "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales". A source with knowledge of the production told TooFab that the British actress has secretly filmed scenes for the fifth installment of the "Pirates of the Caribbean" movie series which is due out next summer.

Knightley will reprise her role as Elizabeth Swann. The Oscar nominee is one of the key on-screen talents to be back in the popular franchise. She will reunite with her co-stars like Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom and Geoffrey Rush, who will once again portray Jack Sparrow, William "Will" Turner and Hector Barbossa respectively.

The upcoming movie follows the villainous Capitan Salazar (Javier Bardem) who leads a horde of deadly ghost pirates out of the Devil's Triangle on a mission to kill every pirate at sea, including Jack Sparrow. To save himself, Jack must find the artifact known as the Trident of Poseidon, which grants its wielder dominion over the sea.

Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg directed the movie from a script by Jeff Nathanson. Kevin McNally also returns as Gibbs, Jack's loyal friend, while Brenton Thwaites and Kaya Scodelario are attached to play new characters named Henry and Carina Smyth respectively. Paul McCartney is also among the cast members, but details about his character are still kept under wraps.

"Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" is coming to U.S. theaters on May 26, 2017.
