'Librarians' creator John Rogers joins creative producer Lin-Manuel Miranda to write the pilot and executive produce an adaptation of best-selling novels 'The Kingkiller Chronicle'.

AceShowbiz - Lionsgate has tapped John Rogers as showrunner of its TV adaptation of fantasy franchise "The Kingkiller Chronicle". Based on the best-selling series of novels by Patrick Rothfuss, the TV series will chronicle the life and times of Kvothe, a magically gifted young man and remarkable musician who grows to be the most notorious wizard his world has ever seen.
Lionsgate Television Group chairman Kevin Beggs said, "With the addition of the incredibly talented John Rogers as showrunner, we have now assembled the perfect creative team to develop a premium quality scripted series to launch our 'Kingkiller Chronicle' franchise. The unique collaboration between our television and feature film divisions will enable us to dramatically expand the world of this iconic franchise for its millions of passionate fans while introducing the property to a whole new global audience."
Rogers will write the pilot and he will executive produce the project alongside creative producer and "Moana" songwriter Lin-Manuel Miranda, book trilogy author Patrick Rothfuss, producer Robert Lawrence and head of development at Roger's Kung Fu Monkey shingle, Jennifer Court.
Rogers currently serves as showrunner on NBC's "The Player" and TNT's "The Librarians". He is also writing the "Magnum P.I." reboot produced by Eva Longoria for ABC. His movie credits include "Transformers", "Catwoman", "The Core" and "American Outlaws".
