AceShowbiz - The future of "Shameless" is reportedly in jeopardy due to Showtime's ongoing negotiations with star %cEmmy Rossum%. The actress, who has been one of the leads on the series since its first season, has been re-negotiating her contract for a potential eighth season.
Sources say Rossum is seeking for a pay raise. She is not only seeking salary parity with co-star %cWilliam H. Macy%, but also asking to be paid more than him to make up for the previous seasons she was making less than him.
Macy recently re-negotiated his deal with producer Warner Bros. TV for the potential eighth season and scored a raise. However, Showtime wants to hold up a formal season 8 pickup until resolving Rossum's salary. Showtime and Warner Bros. TV declined to comment on the issue.
"Shameless" is a top five cable drama among total viewers, adults 18-49 as well as adults 18-34. It has helped Macy score three Emmy nominations, a Golden Globe nomination and an SAG Award win. Rossum, meanwhile, has been nominated for two Critics Choice Awards for her role on the dramedy.
