Is This the Theme of 'American Horror Story' Season 7?

FX may have released a clue about the upcoming installment of its horror anthology series via Twitter.

AceShowbiz -

Just last night, we witnessed another twisted ending in the history of "American Horror Story" franchise. Shortly after the "Roanoke" finale aired on Wednesday, November 16, FX posted a GIF on Twitter seemingly in celebration of the end of the killing spree.

But the GIF only raises another question as it seemingly hints at the theme of next season. The short clip shows ocean water gently roiling with the words "Sweet Dreams" written on it. "The monsters are all gone," so reads the caption. This footage certainly has nothing to do with "Roanoke".

Fans have since speculated if the GIF hints that the upcoming seventh season is set in the sea or involving monsters in the water.

Co-creator Ryan Murphy said in October that season 7 would connect to "Freak Show". He dished on the storyline, "Next year, we will be going back to some 'Freak Show' characters, deeper histories and myhthologies. So we're sort of still exploring season 4 in season 7."

He has also planned a crossover between "Murder House" and "Coven", which would be "very bizarre," but it won't be the theme of season 7.
