AceShowbiz - Jelly Roll is hoping to shed some weight for a new venture. The award-winning country music star was said to be planning on losing weight so he could play a role on "American Horror Story".

"Jelly is serious about acting," a friend of the "Wild Ones" singer told Radar Online. "For the first time in his life, he's eating right and exercising to dump weight - and it's working."

The 40-year-old star added, "He doesn't want to be relegated to fat-guy roles as an actor. He wants to be considered a leading man." Another source noted, "Many of them told him he's a natural. It really got into his head."

The source claimed that Jelly isn't satisfied with his weight despite losing 100 pounds for his acting debut on Sylvester Stallone's TV crime drama "Tulsa King" in September. He is allegedly planning to lose 100 pounds more. "His singing career is on fire, so he figures he should strike while the iron's hot," the informant shared.

He recently publicly pleaded to "AHS" producer Ryan Murphy, saying, "Ryan, please call me, man. If we could do a 30-minute Zoom and just let me hard sell you on why I should be in the next 'American Horror Story', I'd appreciate it."

That aside, Jelly and his wife Bunnie Xo celebrated Thanksgiving along with his almost 60 guests. In a new episode of "Dumb Blonde" podcast, Bunnie detailed the bash that included singing, dancing and some pumpkin pie-flavored Jell-O shots.

"I was having fun, man. Thanksgiving is our time to let loose! We did another annual DeFord Thanksgiving last night, and the house was full," she shared. "I love doing the DeFord family Thanksgiving because it's really been a tradition that we started and [daughter] Bailee looks forward to it every year."

Co-hosts Meme Shahan and Hailee Clark agreed, saying that the star did "a lot of karaoke," and "screamed and shook your a** all Thanksgiving." Bunnie, however, clarified she only joined in on the karaoke "from afar."
