AceShowbiz - Selena Gomez, who is currently taking a break due to depression stemming from Lupus, has hit a new milestone. She affirms herself as the reigning queen of Instagram by reaching 100 million followers, becoming the first celebrity to do so.
The 24-year-old actress/singer ranked as the most followed person on the photo-sharing site in July with 89.2 million followers. By pushing into 100 million followers, she tops other celebrities, including her famous pal Taylor Swift (91.4 million), Beyonce Knowles (85.3 million) and Kim Kardashian (83.6 million).
Selena, however, has not updated her Instagram account in the last six weeks and has not reacted to the milestone. The last photo she posted was from her "Revival Tour", which she abruptly canceled in late August.
"As many of you know, around a year ago I revealed that I have lupus, an illness that can affect people in different ways. I've discovered that anxiety, panic attacks and depression can be side effects of lupus, which can present their own challenges," she said in a statement at the time.
Words are, the "Monte Carlo" star secretly checked into a rehab on the East Coast in early September in order to seek help for her emotional and health crisis. A source told RadarOnline.com, "The facility is a women's only facility in a secluded wooded area. She's staying for more than 60 days."
