AceShowbiz - "Magnum P.I." remake is coming to TV instead of the big screen like it was originally reported a few years ago. The new show will serve as a sequel to the classic CBS 1980s series starring Tom Selleck as private investigator Thomas Magnum. It has landed at ABC.
The revamped show will revolve around Magnum's daughter, Lily 'Tommy' Magnum who made a few appearances in the original show as a young child. She gets caught up in the seedy underbelly of international crime and modern espionage as she take over her father's P.I. firm in Hawaii after her career in Navy Intelligence ended.
It's unclear if Selleck will return for the sequel, but Eva Longoria will serve as an executive producer and John Rogers ("Leverage") pens the script. "We knew no one could replace the iconic role of Thomas Magnum, so John decided to make the reboot a sequel and continue the adventure of a Magnum - his daughter, who was established in the original series," Longoria said.
