Chris Brown found himself in another controversy when participating in the annual Power 106 Celebrity Basketball Game in Los Angeles on Sunday, September 11. The troubled R&B superstar ended up getting mocked on social media for following in the footsteps of Colin Kaepernick by refusing to stand during the national anthem.

In a video posted by TMZ, Brown was seen sitting on the court while Tank who was set to perform told everyone in attendance to stand up in honor of thousands of people losing their lives in the 9/11 tragedy that happened exactly 15 years ago.

"I understand everybody is exercising their right to stand or to sit... But in the wake of 9/11, please understand and respect the fact that real men, women, and children lost their lives for this very thing we are able to stand for today," said Tank.

Brown, however, chose to ignore Tank's plea and remained seated on the floor as the 40-year-old singer belted out "The Star-Spangled Banner". Breezy was even caught on camera making faces and goofing around with his teammates.

The "Loyal" hitmaker was the latest famous face joining the protest started last month by Kaepernick who refused to "show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color."

A lot of Brown's fans couldn't accept his action and immediately took to social media to slam him. "Chris Brown is a disgusting example of a human. Refuse 2 stand during the national anthem on 9/11? If I was there I would have pissed on you," @ChgoZach76 wrote.

"Because he has principals...like beating his girlfriend and stuff... #neverforget," @iheartmindy said. "Breaking news everyone. Chris Brown too tired to stand for national anthem, due to exhaustion from beating women," @PDXGREG similarly added.

Responding to the backlash, Brown posted a screen grab of TMZ's report and simply wrote alongside it, "Stay classy!"

Stay classy!
