While fans were wondering when Lady GaGa would take the stage and perform "Perfect Illusion" live, the new single got its first-ever live performance during a surprise gig at Hackney's Moth Club in London, on Saturday, September 10, a night after the song's release. The-30-year-old singer jumped on stage, surprised everybody in attendance and slayed the secret stage with her powerhouse vocal.
GaGa showed a lot of skin in a crop top that flashed major underboobs and silver pants. In addition to "Perfect Illusion", GaGa performed an acoustic rendition of her hit "Bad Romance".
Previously, on Friday, September 9, GaGa dropped her first solo track in three years, "Perfect Illusion". Produced by GaGa, with the help of Mark Ronson, Bloodpop and Kevin Parker of Tame Impala, the long-awaited single from the Oscar-nominated singer shortly rose to top Billboard real-time and Twitter trending as soon as it's released.
" 'Perfect Illusion', you can't look at any song in the last five or 10 years and be like. This sounds like that. It's its own thing. It's soul-rooted and super-traditional songwriting. And rock. Yet it still has the heart of pop and dance." GaGa's producer, Bloodpop, explained in an interview with Rolling Stone.
Aside from the fact that "Perfect Illusion" got positive feedbacks shortly after its release, Little Monsters assumed that the lyrics are referencing to her recent breakup with Taylor Kinney. The lyrics appear to refer to mistaken love as the chorus says, "Mistaken for love. It wasn't love, it wasn't love, it was a perfect illusion."
The "Bad Romance" singer is currently preparing her upcoming fifth studio album, "LG5", which is set to be released later this year.
