Earlier this year, Jhene Aiko surprised fans when reports emerged claiming that she's secretly married to Dot Da Genius. The R&B songstress has now shocked fans again with her decision to divorce the producer after only 11 months of marriage.
According to TMZ, Aiko filed for divorce from Dot on Tuesday, August 11, citing "irreconcilable differences" as the reason behind their split. The 28-year-old singer is also asking the judge to deny spousal support for him.
News of Aiko and Dot's wedding was unexpected since they never even seemed to be in a relationship. She just confused everyone more when she formed a duo with Big Sean called TWENTY88 a few months ago and sparked speculations that they're dating.
As a group, the pair released an album, also called "TWENTY88", and have spent a lot of time together promoting it. Back in March, they covered Flaunt magazine and said in the accompanying interview that they're both single.
They've also multiple times shared the stage to perform the songs from the record. Last June, they fueled the dating rumors when they made out in front of the crowd during a performance at Powerhouse in Anaheim.
