Ryan Pallotta, director of Olivia Somerlyn's 'Parachute' video which is said to be identical to Perry's clip, defends Paul Gore and thinks that the similarity in the two videos is just ' coincidence.'

Paul Gore, who directed Katy Perry's "Rise" music video, has denied that he stole the concept from another's work. Responding to the accusation, a representative for the director has released a statement which read, "The filmmakers created a video for Katy Perry having never before seen the other video. Any similarity is pure coincidence."

The other video referred to above is Olivia Somerlyn's "Parachute". But Ryan Pallotta, who directed the visuals for "Parachute", has also come to Gore's defense. He said, "Paul Gore is a revered director and I'm sure he wouldn't knowingly copy anything."

Regarding the similarity in both videos, Pallotta commented, "It's just a parachute - there are lots of them in prop houses and I would chalk this up to coincidence."

Kevin Jonas' father Kevin Jonas Sr., who is Olivia's manager, was the first to point out the similarity between Perry's clip for "Rise" and Somerlyn's "Parachute" video. Posting on Twitter a side-by side comparison of the two music videos, he wrote along with it, "Love @katyperry new song but the video for #Rise is identical to @oliviasomerlyn #Parachute."

The two singers are seen with pink parachutes in some scenes of the two music videos, but as Pallotta said, "it's just a parachute."
