'Suicide Squad' Cast Members React to Negative Reviews

Cara Delevingne, Will Smith, Jay Hernandez and 'Wonder Woman' director share their thoughts on the scathing comments from critics about the DC delinquents.

AceShowbiz - "Suicide Squad" cast members broke their silence on a slew of negative reviews received by the DC antihero movie. Cara Delevingne who portrays Enchantress, Will Smith who plays Deadshot and Jay Hernandez who channels his inner Diablo gave their two cents on the matter.

"The critics have been absolutely horrific. They're really, really horrible. You know, I just don't think they like superhero movies," Delevingne told Reuters. "It doesn't really matter what the critics say at the end of the day, it's the fans that we made this movie for."

Smith echoed her sentiment, "At the end of the day critical acclaim is really nice, but we made it for the fans. If the fans like it then we did our job." He added, "I think people had expectations that may have been different, but I'm excited for the fans to get to vote."

Hernandez defended the film as well. "Yeah I am bothered about it, I think it sucks, obviously we worked hard and tried to give the fans what they wanted," he told Digital Spy. "It's weird that some of the criticism I heard was that it was 'too much like a comic book', in terms of you have these characters being objectified like Harley Quinn, there are just certain elements that are just part of being a comic book. If you're trying to portray that on a film, you have to stay true to that, because if you don't, the fans of the comics are going to be offended."

Patty Jenkins, who directed the next DC movie "Wonder Woman", also weighed in on the matter. "Uh... You guys. Super confused. Just went to the premiere of #SuicideSquad. Hadn't seen it. It's great!" she tweeted. "Not sort of great. GREAT! I mean... I loved it. So surprised by some reviews. I don't get it. I thought it was awesome. And NOT just because I'm in the DC world. Truly."

The "Suicide Squad" drama that includes Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn photoshopped butt and David Ayer's "F**k Marvel " scream now continues with the movie's possible ban from China. The team of DC delinquents is indeed pushing the limit of PG-13 with its violent and dark contents.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, China Film Group, the state-backed distributor that handles the import of all foreign films, hasn't put the movie on its internal release calendar, which is typically set at least two months in advance.
