The professional wrestler points out how sports and pro-wrestling are more alike than people think, comparing Goodell to WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon.

AceShowbiz - John Cena may now consider comedian as his new profession. The professional wrestler just proved that he could be as funny as any award show hosts are by successfully amusing the audience at the 2016 ESPY Awards. Tapped as the host for the July 13 event, he delivered a hilarious opening monologue.

He started out by questioning why the event didn't get a comedian or a sports star as a host. "Why the hell did they get me to host this thing?" he asked. "Me hosting the ESPYS is crazy - or is it genius?" He then pointed out how sports and pro-wrestling were more alike than people thought.

"I'm going to start with the NBA. Cleveland won something. That is impossible!" Cena said. "There's no way that wasn't scripted." He then said that LeBron James started off as a good guy, turned into a bad guy by going to the Miami Heat, before being a good guy again by returning to Cleveland.

And what NBA did when the bad guy turned into a good guy? Just like WEE, Cena claimed, they made a new one. The screen then showed a picture of Kevin Durant in a Golden State Warriors uniform.

Cena also took a shot at NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, comparing him to WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon, whom he described as a "maniacal billionaire, pulling the strings behind the scenes, who uses every trick in the book to manipulate things to his advantage anyway he can."

"Something like that is way too crazy for real sports," the "Trainwreck" star said, but the screen flashed to a photo of Goodell.
