Rejoice, "Nashville" fans! The show's leads Connie Britton and Hayden Panettiere are back for the fifth season which will debut on CMT this fall, TVLine has reported. The cable channel picked up the country-music drama series earlier this month after ABC canceled it in May.

Other stars who are expected to return for the new installment are Charles Esten, Sam Palladio, Jonathan Jackson, Clare Bowen, Lennon Stella, Maisy Stella and Chris Carmack. The nine series regulars have reportedly signed on for 22 new episodes.

Meanwhile, Will Chase and Aubrey Peeples, who played Luke and Layla respectively, will not return as it was reported that their characters didn't have much left to be done given their storylines at the end of season 4.

CMT and Lionsgate, which co-produces the series with ABC Studios, decline to comment on this story.

Executive producers Marshall Herskovitz and Ed Zwick have been tapped as new showrunners, replacing longtime showrunner Dee Johnson.
