Liam Hemsworth is defending his decision to propose to Miley Cyrus at a young age. The "Independence Day: Resurgence" actor was just 22 when he popped up the question to 19-year-old Miley back in 2012.

"I don't think that was impulsive," the star of "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 2" told News.com.au when asked if his 2012 proposal was an "impetuous" act, "That was a well thought-out idea."

Liam split from Miley in 2013 before they rekindled their romance earlier this year. The pair moved in together after the younger brother of Chris Hemsworth injured his back in January. At the time, the former "Hannah Montana" star was spotted unloading some big boxes from a U-Haul truck in front of Liam's Malibu home.

In a recent interview with GQ Australia, Liam admitted that his split from Miley "was hard" for him. "Of course it was hard, man," he shared, "But at the time we were going in different directions and it's just what needed to happen. We were both super young and it was a good decision at the time - we both needed that."

Though the pair have kept largely mum about their reconciliation, Miley has made it clear that she's the biggest fan of Liam. Last week, she posted on Instagram a photo of her wearing "Hemsworth" tee.
