'The Walking Dead' Does This to Keep Negan's Victim a Secret

The show has reportedly filmed the death scene multiple times with different victims to prevent fans from getting spoiled.

"The Walking Dead" is doing everything it needs to avoid the leak of who Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) victim is. The sixth season finale ended with a major cliffhanger as the new big bad swung his bat called Lucille at one of the beloved protagonists' heads.

Rick (Andrew Lincoln), Carl (Chandler Riggs), Michonne (Danai Gurira), Eugene (Josh McDermitt), Maggie (Lauren Cohan), Sasha (Sonequa Martin-Green), Daryl (Norman Reedus), Arron (Ross Marquand), Rosita (Christian Serratos), Abraham (Michael Cudlitz) and Glenn (Steven Yeun) were all the potential victims, but the show didn't show who the victim is.

As filming on the new season has begun in Atlanta, fans are dying to know who died in the scene and some of them are using flying drones to capture images from production. "With the advent of drones, it can become such a game of cat and mouse that as far as sneaking a peek at the actors walking to set, we want to just keep our actors safe and the people who might be looking safe - like [when they're] in the street," showrunner Scott M. Gimple said of the struggles they faced last summer.

Thus, to avoid the aftermath of the scene from getting leaked, the show also takes an even greater measure to keep it a secret. According to THR, the show has filmed the scene multiple times with different victims. All 11 cast members reportedly took turn becoming the victim of Negan and later the producers and the episode director will work with the show's editors to pick the correct scene for the seventh season premiere.

The good news is viewers will find out whom Negan killed as soon as season 7 begins. "You'll see who was at the end of that bat and what happened from there" in the season premiere, said Morgan. Series creator/EP Robert Kirkman teased that Negan's victim is "beloved to everyone."

Previously, it was reported that AMC threatened The Spoiling Dead Fans, who are known for posting spoilers about the hit series, with a lawsuit if they share predictions of the Lucille Victim. Executive producer Greg Nicotero also hinted that season 7 was filming out of order. He told IGN the season's schedule didn't "necessarily mean that we're shooting in order" of the episodes.
