Muhammad Ali has been hospitalized with respiratory issue. His family's spokesman Bob Gunnell released a statement on Thursday, June 2 regarding the boxing legend's condition. Bob refused to reveal in which hospital Muhammad is based or when he was admitted.

"He is being treated by his team of doctors and is in fair condition," Bob said in a statement datelined from Phoenix, where Muhammad lives. "A brief hospital stay is expected. At this time, the Muhammad Ali family respectfully requests privacy."

Muhammad has battle Parkinson's Disease since 1979. The three-time world heavyweight boxing champion's health has been fragile in recent years. In late 2014 he was taken to hospital with pneumonia, but made a full recovery. In January 2015 he was hospitalized again for follow-up care after a severe infection.

The 74-year-old former professional boxer was last seen out in public back in April at the Celebrity Fight Night charity event in Arizona. The event was also attended by Carrie Underwood and Rob Gronkowski.
