'24: Legacy' and 'Star' Get Series Orders at FOX

The network has greenlit the '24' spinoff with a 12-episode order, while the Lee Daniels series landed a 13-episode order.

AceShowbiz - "24: Legacy" and "Star" has received series orders at FOX. The network has greenlit the "24" spinoff, executive produced by Kiefer Sutherland, with a 12-episode order, while the Lee Daniels series landed a 13-episode order.

"Straight Outta Compton" star Corey Hawkins, "Homeland" actress Miranda Otto, and "Sons of Anarchy" actor Jimmy Smits will star on "24: Legacy", which follows a race to prevent a deadly terrorist attack on the United States. Howard Gordon, Brian Grazer, Manny Coto, Evan Katz, and Stephen Hopkins are executive producing the show alongside Kiefer.

"Star" meanwhile tells a story of three singers navigating the music business. Lee will executive produce alongside Tom Donaghy, Pamela Oas Williams and Effie Brown. Jude Demorest, Ryan Destiny, and Brittany O'Grady are set to play the main three characters along with Queen Latifah and Benjamin Bratt. The series will feature original music, following in the footsteps of Lee's other FOX hit-show, "Empire".

Neither "24: Legacy" nor "Star" have exact release dates yet, but both are set to premiere in the upcoming 2016-2017 season.
