Bradley Cooper is attached to star in "Deeper", a sci-fi script written by "American Ultra" scribe Max Landis. The project is now without a house but a bidding war between several studios and major finances is happening.
As revealed by The Wrap, "Deeper" will have Cooper as a disgraced astronaut who embarks on a mission to reach the bottom of a newly-discovered oceanic trench, which some speculate may be the lowest point on Earth. Facing great danger, he quickly finds himself in a physical and psychological fight against mysterious forces.
"White God" helmer Kornel Mundruczo is set to direct while Landis will produce along with David Goyer and Kevin Turen of Phantom Four and Russell Ackerman and John Schoenfelder of Addictive Pictures.
Landis recently sold his spec "Bright" to Netflix, netting $4 million for the script and $90 million for the whole package. While "Deeper" doesn't spark that kind of number, it attracts many studios such as Bold, Oddlot, Open Road, Fox Searchlight and Paramount to put on bids. Landis set up "Deeper" in November, a few months before "Bright" was sold to the streaming giant.
