Trailer: Jude Law Is the 'Genius' Writer Propelled by Colin Firth's Faith

Law's Thomas Wolfe lives in the era where F. Scott Fitzgerald and Ernest Hemingway shoot up as the world's famous authors.
The dynamics between an author and his editor are clearly shown in the first trailer of "Genius". In the drama pic, Jude Law and Colin Firth shine as literary figures Thomas Wolfe and Maxwell Perkins respectively.

"Genius" is a story of Perkins, the fedora-wearing eccentric editor-in-chief at New York publishing house Scribner, where he oversaw the release of works by F. Scott Fitzgerald and Ernest Hemingway. It would focus on the relationship between Perkins and a young Thomas Wolfe, though the script is peopled with literary characters.

The trailer begins with a frustrated Wolfe exclaiming, "Every son of a b***h publisher in New York hates my book!" But Perkins shakes his hand and says, "Mr. Wolfe, we intend to publish your book." The relationship turns into a friendship which is often tested during difficult times. "They're calling you a genius, god help you," Perkins tells the youngster.

Tony winner Michael Grandage is directing the movie, supported by Nicole Kidman, Laura Linney, Guy Pearce and Dominic West in the cast. John Logan adapted the script from A. Scott Berg's 1978 book "Max Perkins: Editor of Genius".

"Genius" will be released theatrically on June 10.
