"Big Hero 6" is heading to television. The new TV series is scheduled to premiere on Disney XD in 2017, picking up right after the events of the 2014 animated movie which focuses on Marvel's young tech prodigy named Hiro and his inflatable robot called Baymax.

Hiro, now famous at the San Fransokyo Institute of Technology, faces "daunting academic challenges and the social trials of being the little man on campus. Off campus, the stakes are raised for the high-tech heroes as they must protect their city from an array of scientifically enhanced villains."

The other members of the team, Wasabi, Honey Lemon, Fred and Go Go are expected to return as well. T.J. Miller, Damon Wayans Jr., Maya Rudolph, Jamie Chung, Genesis Rodriguez, Alan Tudyk and Stan Lee are among the voice cast in the original film.

It's unclear if any of the original cast will return for the TV treatment, but "Kim Possible" creators Mark McCorkle and Bob Schooley have been announced as the executive producers for the show.

We are thrilled to have the opportunity to further develop these characters into a world class animated series - full of fun, action and the kind of endearing storytelling that only Mark, Bob - and Baymax - can deliver."
