Idris Elba Goes All Bond on First 'Bastille Day' Trailer
Movie

A rogue CIA agent must team up with an unsuspecting American con-artist living abroad to thwart a terrorist attack on French soil.

AceShowbiz - Idris Elba was once touted to be the next Bond before he was deemed "too street" to play the role by Bond author Anthony Horowitz. His latest film "Bastille Day" proved that he didn't need the coveted role to make him the king of spy action.

First trailer of "Bastille" reveals how he meets an expert pickpocket and teams up with him to catch the real terrorist. Elba plays former CIA agent Sean Briar who embarks on an anti-terrorist mission in France with the help of Richard Madden's Michael Mason. The thief steals the wrong bag at the wrong time, shortly before the package goes off.

Briar asks Mason to prove his expertise and enlists him in his hunt for the terrorist, an undercover police officer. Elba, who fascinates on "Luther" as a detective with dark past, spreads his charm as the reckless but very much capable agent in this film. "What can we do, there's only two of us!" Mason quips before they spring into action against the odds.

"Bastille Day", directed by James Watkins and written by Andrew Baldwin, will break into theaters in the U.K. on April 22.
