The financial drama series scored a new season order after premiering to 6.5 million viewers on January 17.

AceShowbiz - "Billions" proved itself to be worthy just after two episodes on air. The financial drama series, starring heavyweights like Paul Giamatti and Damian Lewis among others, is renewed for a second season.

The series centers on the battle between two powerful New York figures: U.S. Attorney Chuck Rhoades and hedge fund king Bobby "Axe" Axelrod. Giamatti portrays the former while Lewis plays the latter. Malin Akerman is in the role of Axe's housewife while Maggie Siff plays Rhoades' wife as well as Axe's employee.

"Billions" premiered to 6.5 million viewers on multiple platforms earlier this month. It became Showtime's best debut ever, topping "Ray Donovan" debut in 2013 by 7 percent.

Brian Koppelman and David Levien wrote and executive produced the series along with Andrew Ross Sorkin of the New York Times. With the renewal, the cable network officially has a strong line-up in the drama department as it includes "Homeland", "Masters of Sex", "The Affair" in addition to "Ray Donovan".
