'Terminator 2' Pulled From Paramount Schedule

After Sony and Disney changed some of their movies' release dates, Paramount has pulled the sequel to 'Terminator Genisys' from the studio's release schedule.

AceShowbiz - "Terminator Genisys" may not get a sequel anytime soon. Paramount announced on Wednesday, January 20 that "Terminator 2", which was previously set for a May 19, 2017 release, was pulled from the studio's release schedule. The spot has subsequently been taken by "Baywatch".

Consequently, "Terminator 3", which had been slated to hit U.S. theaters on June 29, 2018, will presumably be pushed back as well. The decision might be affected by poor reviews "Terminator Genisys" received and its disappointing domestic box office results. The studio didn't give any further comment on the decision.

On the other hand, it is the first release date for "Baywatch". The movie adapted from the 1990s TV series about California lifeguards will star Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Zac Efron, Kelly Rohrbach and Alexandra Daddario. While plot details are still scarce, production is expected to begin in a few months.

Paramount's announcement came after Sony and Disney changed some of their movies' release dates. "Star Wars: Episode VIII" has been pushed back seven months, from Memorial Day weekend in 2017 to December 15 of that year. "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" will now open on "Episode VIII" old slot on May 26, 2017. Meanwhile, untitled new Spider-Man movie has been moved up by three weeks from July 28, 2017 to July 7, 2017. "Jumanji" subsequently took over the previous slot of "Spider-Man".
