Sony has shifted the release dates for its two upcoming films, the untitled new Spider-Man movie and "Jumanji". "Spider-Man" will open in U.S. theaters earlier than expected as it has been moved up by three weeks from July 28, 2017 to July 7, 2017.
The superhero film that stars Tom Holland as the new version of the webslinger and Marisa Tomei as aunt May has taken the slot that was previously vacated by "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales", which will now arrive on May 28, 2017. Sources said that filming was pushed back a month to give time for writers to improve the script of the superhero movie.
Meanwhile, the "Jumanji" reboot has been pushed back by seven months from December 25, 2016 to July 28, 2017, taking over the previous place of "Spider-Man". There is no cast member attached to the project just yet, but it is known that the project will be directed by Jake Kasdan and written by Zach Helm, Chris McKenna, Scott Rosenberg and Erik Sommers.
The upcoming reboot will be based on the source material, Chris Van Allsburg's children's book, that inspired the original movie. Though so, it is said that the upcoming movie will be reimagined and updated for the present.
