'He was one of the geniuses in the music industry... and he changed my life when I went to see him in concert in Detroit,' Madge says before playing the song at her Houston show.

AceShowbiz - Madonna paid tribute to David Bowie when she brought her "Rebel Heart" tour to Houston, Texas on Tuesday night, January 12. During her show at the Toyota Center, the iconic diva honored the late musician with a cover of his "Rebel Rebel".

"I want to pay tribute to a man who inspired my career. If you haven't heard of David Bowie, look him up, motherf**ers," she said in front of the crowd before she started the song. "He was one of the geniuses in the music industry, one of the greatest singer-songwriters of the 20th century and he changed my life when I went to see him in concert in Detroit. He showed me that it was ok to be different. And he's the first 'rebel heart' that I laid eyes on."

Madge then delivered an energetic performance of the classic. An image of Bowie was displayed on a screen behind her throughout the song.

Bowie passed away over the weekend just two days after he celebrated his 69th birthday. After news about his death broke, Madonna remembered him in a touching Facebook post in which she detailed how he changed her life after she attended his concert in Detroit.

"He was so chic and beautiful and elegant. So ahead of his time. Thank you David Bowie. I owe you a lot," she wrote earlier this week.

I'm devastated.David Bowie changed the course of my life forever. I never felt like I fit in growing up in Michigan....
