'Smallville' Star Laura Vandervoort to Visit 'Supergirl' as Villain

The actress who had played Supergirl on The CW's series is announced as the new recurring star later this season.

AceShowbiz - Laura Vandervoort is returning to a familiar place. The actress, who played Supergirl on The CW's "Smallville", was announced on Monday, January 11 to play a recurring role on CBS' "Supergirl".

Her casting along with Jeff Branson's was announced during the network's Television Critics Association presentation. She will play a character named Indigo who is "a living, strong-willed supercomputer that was sentenced to Fort Rozz after turning against the people of Krypton." The comic presents her as a villain which has a connection to Brainiac.

Meanwhile, Branson is playing Master Jailer a.k.a. "the forceful and unrelenting jail guard on Fort Rozz" who "showed no mercy." Now on Earth, he is hellbent on catching all of the Fort Rozz escapees and brutally bringing them to justice.

"Supergirl" is starring Melissa Benoist in the titular role. The series had previously hired Helen Slater, another actress who had played Supergirl, to play Kara and Alex's foster mother. The three Supergirls will reunite in one episode later this season.
