AceShowbiz - Gigi Hadid is really aware of cultural appropriation issue. The Victoria's Secret Angel took to Instagram on Wednesday, December 23 to remind people, who would accuse her of appropriating Palestinian culture by getting some henna on her hand, that she's a half Palestinian.
The blonde beauty posted on the social media a snap of her hand and her friends' getting beautiful henna designs. Anticipating criticism over the henna, Gigi wrote alongside the snap, "Before you go all 'cultural appropriation' in my comments, check out the last name. Hadid. Half Palestinian & proud of it."
In addition to the explanation of her heritage, Gigi explained the story behind the snap. The 20-year-old model said that she had a meetup with her old friends and apparently decided to get henna together. "Had the best night with some of my oldest friends last night. Feel so blessed to have a foundation of friendships that will bond us for the rest of our lives," she wrote.
"The way we can all sit around and talk like the clock's been turned back 10 years is the most beautiful and grounding feeling," Gigi added. "It's so important to be with the families that raised you and the friends that were raised with yours." She concluded, "So much love in my heart this holiday season !!!!!"
