Find Out the Reason Why J.J. Abrams Omitted Some Scenes From 'The Force Awakens'
Movie

The director explained he had to omit some scenes from the movie because they turn out to be 'inconsequential and in fact less impactful.'

AceShowbiz - While "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" is in theaters all over the world, director J.J. Abrams shares details about some scenes which appeared in trailers but don't appear in the movie. In an interview with EW, the director opens up about why he decided to omit some scenes from the film.

"There's a shot where Kylo Ren turns on his lightsaber, which was also not in the movie," Abrams says. "There were a bunch of things we ended up not using."

Another scene which didn't make the movie was the one featuring Lupita Nyong'o's Maz Kananta. In one of the movie's trailers, the tiny alien handed Luke Skywalker's (Mark Hamill) lightsaber to General Leia (Carrie Fisher).

Now that fans have noticed that the scene didn't appear in the film, they start to guess the reason behind the omission. Now they don't have to speculate anymore as Abrams finally speaks up about the reasons behind the omission. "Sometimes you discover that things you would have cut off a limb to shoot on the day are absolutely inconsequential, and in fact less impactful than if you were to remove it," he explained.

Kananta was also set to have a scene in which she was supposed to go back to the Resistance base, but Abrams considered it less necessary so he didn't include it in the film. "At one point, Maz used to continue along with the characters back to the Resistance base, but we realized that she really had nothing to do there of value, except to have her sitting around...Lupita did film scenes on set for that sequence, but it felt like going right just to go left, and it was unnecessary," Abrams revealed.
