Director James Gunn took to Facebook to debunk latest rumor about the identity of Star-Lord's father in "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2". The director said that the rumor, which claimed that Peter Quill's father was Mar-Vell, the original Captain Marvel, was completely wrong.
Gunn seemed to be pretty tired with numerous rumors about his upcoming superhero movie. He stated that this would be the last time he would comment on any rumors regarding the sequel to "Guardians of the Galaxy".
"The rumors surrounding Quill's parentage at the present moment are completely false, and aren't even close to the truth," Gunn said in a statement. "I don't know how people come up with this stuff, but it certainly isn't through legitimate sources."
All right. From this moment on I’m going to stop commenting on any rumors surrounding Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2,...

The rumor about Chris Pratt's Quill's parentage was reported by Heroic Hollywood. Mar-Vell is an alien soldier from the Kree Empire. He is better known as his superhero identity "Captain Marvel".
Gunn previously confirmed that "Guardians 2" would reveal who Star-Lord's father is. Ever since he made that statement, speculations about the identity of Star-Lord's father started to arise. Before denying Mar-Vell as Quill's father, Gunn had debunked previous rumor suggesting Jason of Spartax, the Emperor of the Spartoi Empire in the original comic books, as the daddy figure of the central character.
Principal photography on the sequel is set to commence in February 2016 at Pinewood Atlanta Studios for May 5, 2017 release. Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper are expected to return for the sequel.
