It's been more than a year since Dax Shepard and Michael Pena have officially joined the cast of "CHiPs" remake. Now that production on the comedy movie has started, some photos from the Los Angeles set have arrived. The photos give a first look at the two actors portraying their respective roles.
Shepard was seen suiting up as officer Jon Baker while Pena was spotted in full costume as Frank "Ponch" Poncherello. The two were seen riding huge motorcycles and at one point, Shepard rode his motorbike behind Pena.
"CHiPs" is adapted from the '70s hit TV series of the same title about the lives of two California Highway Patrolmen, one of which always follows the rules, while the other is more on the wild side. Plot details are being kept under wraps, but the basic plot centers on an exotic-car theft ring. It is said to be in the vein of buddy cop movies like "Bad Boys" and "Lethal Weapon".
Besides starring in the film, Shepard will direct, write the script and produce the movie alongside Andrew Panay. While the release date has not been announced just yet, it is said to be released next year.
