Katie Holmes has finally broken her silence on Leah Remini's comments about scientology and Tom Cruise. In a statement released to PEOPLE, the "Woman in Gold" actress said, "I regret having upset Leah in the past, and wish her only the best in the future."
In the latest promo of upcoming "20/20" special, Leah revealed that she was written up and reported to the church for commenting on Tom kissing Katie. "He was like, forcibly kissing Katie," Leah recalled. "And I said, 'Hey, get a freaking room.' And uh, well. I was written up for that."
On the other hand, ABC News' Dan Harris, who interviewed Leah, ignited speculations that Katie would appear on "20/20" special. "You're also going to hear from Katie Holmes, the former wife of Tom Cruise," he said on "Good Morning America". "[And] what she is now saying about Leah."
Regarding the speculations of her appearance on the show, Katie's publicist set the record straight. "In response to an email sent from the producers or fact-checkers from 20/20 asking a plethora of questions, we supplied no answers and instead gave only a one-sentence statement in response," the publicist said in the statement. "Katie is not making an appearance on the special, nor is she discussing Scientology, or her former marriage, and this quote was provided through her publicist."
"For any outlet to suggest otherwise is misleading; I would think Leah and the book stand on their own, and don't need to trade off Katie Holmes for people to tune in," the statement read.
