'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2' May Feature Mantis

The upcoming Marvel superhero movie is said to include the martial arts expert, which may be portrayed by French actress Pom Klementieff.

AceShowbiz - Following reports that French actress Pom Klementieff joined the cast of "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" in an undisclosed role, Deadline reports that Klementieff will possibly play Mantis in the sequel to "Guardians of the Galaxy". Mantis was first introduced in "Avengers" #112 in 1973. She was created by Steve Englehart and Don Heck.

Mantis is the half-Vietnamese, half-German daughter of anti-hero Gustav Brandt a.k.a. Libra. She possesses martial arts skills and psychic abilities. At her age of 18, Mantis was encouraged to experience a regular human existence. Her memory was wiped and she was sent to Earth, where she later met the Avengers.

Principal photography is set to commence in February 2016 at Pinewood Atlanta Studios for May 5, 2017 release. Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper are expected to return for the sequel. James Gunn is also back to direct and write the screenplay.
