Actress-singer Selena Gomez has scored a new gig as TV series executive producer. The beauty, who has been busy with her music career as of late, has been attached to executive produce Netflix's new miniseries titled "13 Reasons Why". Variety first reported the news.
"13 Reasons Why" is based on Jay Asher's 2007 novel of the same title. It tells the story of Hannah Baker, a high schooler who commits suicide. Clay, who has yet to be cast, receives a box of tapes from Hannah, his late classmate and crush, after she kills herself. On the tapes, which get passed along to other students based on Hannah's instructions, Hannah reveals the 13 reasons why she took her own life.
Gomez would be executive produce the series alongside her mom, Mandy Teefey, and Kristel Laiblin. At the time of writing, premiere date has not yet been set.
Gomez's executive producer gig comes on the heels of the release of "Revival", her second solo album. Her last acting gig was in Disney Channel's 2013 movie "The Wizards Return: Alex vs. Alex".
