The Iraq War veteran made a marriage proposal to Army reserve specialist Jamie Boyd during live episode of the ABC show in May.

AceShowbiz - After all the fanfare, Noah Galloway and Jamie Boyd have canceled their engagement. Galloway famously went down on one knee to propose to Boyd on live TV during an episode of "Dancing with the Stars" five months ago.

Galloway announced their split on Instagram with a picture of them smiling on a beach. "After long and careful consideration we've decided to end our engagement," the 33-year-old Iraq War veteran captioned. "We love each other deeply and we're confident we will remain friends. While we wanted to share this you, we appreciate the respect of our privacy at this time."

Boyd simultaneously posted a red carpet photo of them with a similar comment. She wrote, "We can't thank you enough for all your unwavering love and support. It has meant, and means, so much to us so we wanted to share this with you firsthand. This is a very difficult time and we appreciate y'all for respecting our privacy as we go through this."

Boyd, an Army reserve specialist, said yes to Galloway back in May. "I love this man so much!" Boyd told ET about Galloway after the proposal. "It was like, 'Pinch me!' Never in a million years could I have imagined that he would have done it here. I had no clue." Galloway, a double-amputee, finished third on last season's "DWTS".

Galloway previously told PEOPLE they were planning the wedding to take place on a farm next fall and that he would wear a kilt.
