Marvel NOT Regaining 'Fantastic Four' Rights From Fox
Movie

In contrary to swirling rumors, Fox didn't trade the film rights to 'Fantastic Four' in exchange for the X-Men TV rights.

AceShowbiz - 20th Century Fox still retains the film rights to "Fantastic Four" despite report stating otherwise. Following the rumor which was first spread by Den of Geek, a rep for the studio has confirmed that the live-action rights to "Fantastic Four" remain at Fox.

The site previously claimed that Marvel had "re-acquired" the rights to "Fantastic Four". The studio was said making a deal with Fox which would bring back "Fantastic Four" to Marvel in exchange for the X-Men TV rights. The said deal allegedly also included the rights to Galactus and Doctor Doom, as well as the Silver Surfer.

The site went on suggesting that one of the movies Marvel recently announced for its slate leading up to the year 2020 would be a new "Fantastic Four" film.

However, Den of Geek later corrected its story, saying that Fox confirmed the rumor about the supposed deal with Marvel was "completely untrue."

The latest "Fantastic Four" movie, "The Fantastic Four" (2015), was a major flop at box office, earning a worldwide total of $167 million, against a production budget of $122 million. Starring Miles Teller, Michael B. Jordan, Kate Mara and Jamie Bell as the titular heroes, it was also panned by critics. Thus, it's no wonder that fans were hoping Marvel would take over the franchise.
