AceShowbiz - Daniel Craig isn't sure about his future as James Bond. The British hunk's contract approaches its expiration date and there have been rumblings about who will replace him as the next 007. Asked how long he might take on the role, Craig himself couldn't give a definite answer.
"I can't give you an honest answer at this point," he told EW after wrapping up the production on "Spectre" in July. "It's not that I'm trying to play hard to get. I've just given it no thought whatsoever."
Craig admitted that what he needed at the moment was more time with his family. "This movie has taken up two years of my life. And I just need a break," he added. "I need to get back to normal life. I need to reintroduce myself to my family who are not best pleased with me. The idea of planning ahead - I'm not trying to be coy. People want an answer and I don't have one."
The 47-year-old, who has starred in "Casino Royale" (2006), "Quantum of Solace" (2008) and "Skyfall" (2012), is contractually obligated to appear as Bond in just one more movie after "Spectre", which is due to hit theaters in the U.S. on November 16.
Longtime Bond producer Barbara Broccoli also wouldn't deny nor confirm if Craig will carry on the torch beyond his fifth Bond film. She, however, praised him, "Daniel has reinvigorated this character. He's made it contemporary, given it depth and resonance and humanity. The part is his. He's so great and attracts so many people who want to work with him like Christoph [Waltz] and Lea [Seydoux], Ralph Fiennes and Ben Whishaw."
Damian Lewis, Idris Elba and Tom Hardy are some names who have been mentioned as contenders to be the next Bond.
