Vanessa Williams joins the list of new additions for the cast of "The Good Wife" season 7. The "Ugly Betty" alumna is set to guest star in the new season of the ABC drama series as a love interest for Eli Gold (Alan Cumming).

Cumming broke the news at the recently wrapped Primetime Emmy Awards. The actor told TVLine on the red carpet of the Sunday, September 20 awards ceremony that Williams would appear in multiple episodes. Other details of her role are not available yet.

Cumming was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series at this year's Emmys. He, however, lost it to "Game of Thrones" star Peter Dinklage. In fact, the show, which had helped lead actress Julianna Margulies win two Emmys for her role as Alicia Florrick in 2011 and 2014, didn't win any this year.

The Emmy snub aside, "The Good Wife" will return Sunday, October 4 at 9 P.M. on CBS. Other new faces in the season include Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Jason Crouse, a "calm, experienced hourly investigator" who will work for Alicia, and Margo Martindale as Willa Eastman, a campaign operative who helps Peter with his vice presidential run.
