FX decides to continue to air 'The League' as scheduled while Comedy Central is still 'determining how we will move forward' after Steve Rannazzisi's lies.

AceShowbiz - FX and Comedy Central have responded to Stephen Rannazzisi's confession that he fabricated his 9/11 escape story. The comedian known as Steve Rannazzisi stars on FX's series "The League" and has a one-hour stand-up special called "Breaking Dad" planned on Comedy Central.

"We are disappointed to learn that Steve Rannazzisi lied about being in the World Trade Center on 9/11. It is upsetting that he would fabricate a story about having survived that horrible tragedy. It is also unfortunate that he did not admit to the truth sooner," FX said.

The network decides they will continue to air the seventh and final season of "The League" as planned. "We believe Steve is sincere in his apology and will do everything he can to make amends moving forward," they added in their statement.

In a similar tone, Comedy Central stated, "We just learned about this last night. We are very disappointed to hear about Steve's misrepresentations and are currently determining how we will move forward." It's unclear if his stand-up special will air as scheduled.

For many years, Steve Rannazzisi has repeatedly lied about surviving 9/11. He claimed that he was on the 54th floor of the south tower working at Merrill Lynch's offices when the first plane crashed. He said he managed to run to safety just minutes before another attack. In the aftermath of the terrorist attack, he realized that life was too precious so he decided to move to L.A. to pursue his dream job as an entertainer.

"I was not at the Trade Center on that day," he issued an apology recently. "I don't know why I said this. This was inexcusable. I am truly, truly sorry." He admitted to working in Midtown, and not for Merrill Lynch, when the twin towers fell. Merrill Lynch itself has no record of his employment and had no offices in either tower.
