When he's not busy finishing his next "A Song of Ice and Fire" novel, George R. R. Martin is filming a cameo appearance on several TV shows. After appearing in Syfy's "Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No!", the book author is set to make a cameo on "Z Nation" which also airs on the cable channel.

He will play himself as a zombie, "who has been imprisoned by a character called the Collector, who captures celebrity zombies and keeps George chained to a desk for his own nefarious purposes," EW reports. In some pictures obtained by the site, Martin is seen at a book signing event to promote his novel "A Promise of Spring", similar to "A Dream of Spring", the expected title of his seventh novel in "A Song of Ice and Fire" saga.

"I just want to prove to my fans that even in the Zombie Apocalypse, the 'Song of Ice and Fire' books will still come out!" he says of his cameo. Martin will appear in episode 8 of the second season.

The new season of "Z Nation" premieres Friday, September 11 at 10 P.M. In this second installment, three years have passed since the zombie virus overtook the country. A team of everyday heroes must transport Murphy (Keith Allan), the only known survivor of the plague, from New York to California so that his blood can be used to make a vaccine.
