There have been rumors about making sequels to "Terminator Genisys" long before the movie hits theaters. J.K. Simmons, who was promoting his new movie "Break Point", told ScreenRant that he wanted the sequels to happen.

Although "Terminator Genisys" didn't perform as good as it was expected at domestic box office, it is not impossible that the movie may still get a sequel. Simmons, who starred as detective O'Brien, was asked about the possibility to make a follow-up to the cyborg movie. He answered, "Nothing yet, we are hopeful that we're going to make a couple more, but the trigger has not been officially pulled."

Back in July, Simmons assured fans if the sequel happens, he would definitely be back portraying the detective. "I am signed on, so if there are sequels I will by God be there," the 60-year-old actor said.

When Paramount Pictures first announced that the "Terminator" series would be returning, the plan was to make "Terminator Genisys" be the first part of a brand new trilogy. The studio even gave release dates to "Terminator 6" and "Terminator 7", scheduling them to arrive on May 19, 2017, and June 29, 2018. However, the studio has not officially confirmed yet that the movies will actually be made.

Jai Courtney also teased about the two possible sequels in October 2014. "Hard to imagine a 'Terminator' film without Arnold [Schwarzenegger]. I guess we start filming - I think the plan is do the next 2 back to back in 2016," he opened up.
