The former boybander appears to make a reference to his ex's 'Good for You' and then favorites a couple of tweets relating his new song to the songbird.

AceShowbiz - Fans were excited enough when Nick Jonas surprise-released a new song called "Area Code" over the weekend. Some of them got even more excited when noticing that the singer might have created the track with his ex Selena Gomez in mind.

Some fans are speculating that Jonas is making a reference to Gomez's most recent hit "Good for You" when he sings, "You say I never been good for you/ You can't deny I gave it good to you." The former boybander only fueled the rumors when he later "favorited" a couple of fans' tweets that related his song to the 23-year-old songbird.

"When u hang out with Selena Gomez," read one tweet. Another said, "Oh my gosh. Nick. Selena. Never thought I'd be saying this again! Area Code references 'Good for You'."

Jonas and Gomez first dated in 2008. Earlier this summer, they sparked reconciliation rumors after spotted having dinner together. The two were then seen getting flirty at an MTV Video Music Award after-party last week. "They were very flirty. He kept whispering in her ear," a source said at that time.

"Area Code" will presumably appear on Jonas' next album. The song was made available on his SoundCloud page on Saturday, September 5 alongside a note saying he's looking for someone to add a guest verse on it.
