One Direction made headlines this weekend, not only with their rumored hiatus, but also a report about Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson's alleged gay sex tape. A made-up hashtag, "sextapelarry", became a trending topic on Twitter on Sunday, suggesting that the two boys were lovers and made a sex tape together.

However, the hashtag couldn't be more than bogus. An insider from the band's group tells Gossip Gop that Harry and Louis were "amused" rather than annoyed by the fake story. While "they don't give much thought" to the rumors, they hope fans do "not fight over stuff that's fake." The management, meanwhile, reportedly would prefer people not further publicize the phony trending topics.

Fans who were against the fabricated hashtag took to Twitter to defend their idols. One Twitter user wrote, "i am totally against #sextapelarry Louis's is already becoming a dad and you still do this." Another fan tweeted, "This is so disrespectful... Stop it. #sextapelarry #RespectHarryAndLouis."

Meanwhile, neither One Direction nor their representative has made a comment on report that the band would be taking at least a 12-month hiatus starting from March next year to pursue solo projects.
