One Direction cropped out their former member Zayn Malik in a throwback photo posted on Twitter on Thursday, August 20. The band posted a little piece of trivia for Throwback Thursday which showed only four members of the band. The blurred picture was from "Steal My Girl" music video taken when Zayn still joined the band.

Some One Direction fans were disappointed that Zayn was cropped from the picture. One fan commented, "@onedirection you can crop Zayn out of a picture but you can't crop him out of our memories and more than 4 years of being in the band..." Another fan wrote, "@onedirection where's zayn he might not be in the band anymore but he was in this video and I don't know this video without him tbh."

Zayn officially left One Direction back in March. At that time, he said in a statement, "I am leaving because I want to be a normal 22-year-old who is able to relax and have some private time out of the spotlight."

The remaining members of the band Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan and Liam Payne later released a statement, stating, "We're really sad to see Zayn go, but we totally respect his decision and send him all our love for the future. The past five years have been beyond amazing, we've gone through so much together, so we will always be friends. The four of us will now continue. We're looking forward to recording the new album and seeing all the fans on the next stage of the world tour."
