AceShowbiz - Kelly Clarkson gave Demi Lovato a very special birthday present during her "Piece by Piece" show on Wednesday, August 19. The "American Idol" alum paid tribute to the former Disney star, who turned 23 on Thursday, by covering her latest hit "Cool for the Summer" for the crowd at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

"She's always been so supportive and so cool," Clarkson said of Lovato when introducing the song. "To see a kid that used to go to my shows have this huge, lustrous career... she's just killin' it. I thought I would, for her birthday, sing 'Cool for the Summer'."

She then launched into an acoustic guitar-driven, slowed-down rendition of the pop/rock track, which is leading Lovato's upcoming album.

Lovato was quick to learn of Clarkson's beautiful cover and then took to Twitter to thank her for what she called the "BEST BDAY GIFT EVER!!" She wrote, "WOW WOW WOW.. @kelly_clarkson thank you SO MUCH for covering #coolforthesummer at your show tonight!!!"

Her version of "Cool for the Summer" wasn't the only surprise Clarkson shared at the Wednesday concert. On the same night, she got emotional while performing her latest album's title track "Piece by Piece" before unexpectedly announcing her second pregnancy.

"I was not planning on announcing this but I'm totally pregnant," she revealed. She said she hadn't told most of her family members that she's expecting again. She added that she's a little nervous to see her husband Brandon Blackstock's reaction to the unplanned announcement.
