Universal announced that "The Purge" would return to its annual event "Halloween Horror Nights". It will appear as a haunted-house maze instead of a scare zone. Since the "Purge" films are set in a 12-hour period in which all crimes are legal, the maze will place guests in the midst of the chaotic tradition. As the guests walk down the maze, they will realize that they are the targets for this year's Purge.

According to the press release, "beginning Friday, September 18, the annual Purge will commence at 'Halloween Horror Nights' at Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Orlando Resort as both parks debut all-new disturbingly-real experiences, inspired by Universal's popular franchise film series created by writer and director James DeMonaco and produced by Blumhouse Productions and Platinum Dunes."

Besides the maze, there will be the "Terror Tram: Survive the Purge" and "Purge Party". The harrowing party will be set up around the Universal backlot and there will be a screening of the fictional event. Following the announcement, Universal also released "The Purge" maze trailer.

Other mazes at the events will be "Crimson Peak", "Insidious", "Halloween: Michael Myers Comes Home" and "This Is The End" mazes as well as the returning maze "AVP: Alien vs. Predator".
