The intense teaser glimpses some horrible things which happen during the inaugural Purge Night, that one night a year when all crime is legal.

AceShowbiz - Let the fun begin, it says. Ahead of "The First Purge" premiere, USA Network's "The Purge" has unveiled the first teaser of the TV series. The 39-second teaser offers a look at what to expect from and gives an insight into the upcoming 10-episode series.

"We are just minutes away from the start of this glorious holiday. Tonight we celebrate because we made this country great. Let the fun begin!" someone says in the intense teaser.

The video also glimpses some horrible things which happen during the inaugural Purge Night, that one night a year when all crime, including murder, is legal. A person can be seen being dragged by a car, while another one is screaming as his body is burned in flame.

Somewhere in the teaser, a group of teenagers is seemingly witnessing someone being murdered in front of their eyes while they're inside a bus. Towards the end of the teaser, a slew of masked people are standing in line with an axe in their hands.

"The Purge" chronicles a 12-hour period when all crime, including murder, is legal. Set in an altered America ruled by a totalitarian political party, the series follows several seemingly unrelated characters living in a small city. As the clock winds down, each character is forced to reckon with their past as they discover how far they will go to survive the night.

The series hails from franchise creator James DeMonaco and Blumhouse Television. Monaco writes and executive produces the series alongside Jason Blum. Monaco previously revealed that the TV series took place between the first "Purge" and the last movie. "So if 20 Purges have taken place, or 15, we're probably on the seventh or eighth in the TV show. It's an established thing that people have gotten used to," he shared.

"The Purge" is set to premiere on September 4 on USA Network and Syfy.
